Location

Redcliff Zambezi Lodge in Zambia is on the northern bank of the Zambezi River in the Zambezi Valley. The lodge is up river from Lake Cahora Bassa in Mozambique and between the village of Luangwa and the breathtaking Mpata Gorge.

The eastern boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park (4,092 sq. km) is only about 10 km away. Redcliff Zambezi Lodge is situated in the extensive Rufunsa Game Management (GMA) area which borders the national park.

The nearby village, Luangwa Boma (formerly Feira), can be reached by road or air:

  • Air - Lusaka can also be reached with one of the scheduled commercial flights between Johannesburg and Lusaka.
  • Air Charter - The flight from Lusaka to Luangwa Boma takes 40 minutes (airfield co-ordinates).
  • Road (from Lusaka) - The 325 km drive from Lusaka to Luangwa takes approximately four hours on reasonable roads. The distance is about 230 km on a tarred road ("Great East Road") and another 86 km on a scenic gravel road along the Luangwa River.

The lodge can only be reached by boat. A scenic boat transfer of about 35 minutes on a 16 km stretch of the Zambezi River completes the last leg of the journey from Luangwa Boma to Redcliff Zambezi Lodge.
